Job summary

The Health and Safety Partnership Limited is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join a North West multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering engineering and manufacturing projects. You will ensure health, safety and CDM requirements are integrated through design and pre-construction stages, working with designers, engineers and project teams.

The role focuses on identifying and managing risk, coordinating design meetings, site visits, and providing CDM guidance to clients.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with machinery or production lines in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Previous demonstrable experience working as a CDM Principal Designer.
• Experience with BAE Systems would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Review project information and construction drawings to identify design, construction and maintenance risks.
• Provide clear CDM advice to clients, including guidance on duties, policies and procedures.
• Attend and coordinate design and project meetings.
• Undertake site visits as required.
• Prepare and share relevant health and safety information with project teams.
• Review Construction Phase Plans.
• Oversee the preparation of Pre-Construction Information.

Job description

CDM Principal Designer required to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy operating across the North West to support the delivery of engineering and manufacturing projects.

This role requires a background in machinery or production lines, alongside proven experience working in a CDM Principal Designer capacity.

As CDM Principal Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that health, safety and CDM requirements are effectively considered and managed throughout the design and pre-construction stages of projects.

You will work closely with designers, engineers, project teams and other stakeholders to identify and manage risks, ensuring projects are delivered safely and in accordance with CDM Regulations.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing project information and construction drawings to identify design, construction and maintenance risks.
• Providing clear CDM advice to clients, including guidance on duties, policies and procedures.
• Attending and coordinating design and project meetings.
• Undertaking site visits as required.
• Preparing and sharing relevant health and safety information with project teams.
• Reviewing Construction Phase Plans.
• Overseeing the preparation of Pre-Construction Information.

Experience

• Significant experience working with machinery and/or production lines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Previous, demonstrable experience working specifically as a CDM Principal Designer.
• Experience of working previously with BAE Systems would be highly advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General and/or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
• A relevant engineering, design, construction or health & safety qualification (HNC/HND/degree or equivalent),
• Membership of a relevant professional body, e.g. IOSH is desirable

This CDM Principal Designer role has a salary of £50,000-£55,000 plus benefits.
