Qualifications

You’ll help us make health happen by:

The Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist will provide a high quality, safe and effective Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT) to Bupa customers aged between 11 to 17 years old.


The role will involve the following:

  • To provide high-quality CBT or low-level brief interventions to children and adolescents, which demonstrates excellent clinical outcomes.
  • To deliver comprehensive assessments and formulations that drive evidence-based intervention. To ensure a thorough assessment determines the most appropriate pathway of care and support for the client and their family.
  • To provide different models of service delivery including telephone or video consultation, depending on client preference.
  • To be able to communicate effectively to share information with key agencies and systems around the child – for example, school/college, local authority, parents and carers, etc.
  • To adhere to sessional limits depending on the client’s monetary allowance as determined by their Private Medical Insurance, whilst working towards therapeutic recovery goals.
  • To adhere to local and national policies and guidance on safeguarding children and adults, and be particularly sensitive to some of the unique safeguarding concerns regarding children and consent.
  • To provide risk assessment and management planning, with support from the senior clinical leadership team, as and when required.
  • To provide signposting or onwards referral as and when required.
  • To provide ad-hoc or one-off wellbeing support and coaching as and when required.
  • To provide one-off assessments and referral recommendations, when required.
  • To work at a client level to provide group psychoeducation, raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing, promotion of mental wellbeing guidance via remote presentation, workshop events and training as and when required.
  • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Bupa’s service policies and procedures.
  • To attend regular clinical supervision, both individually and group-based, to support clinical practice, in line with Bupa and professional body guidelines.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Full BABCP accreditation
  • Experience in a similar role providing high intensity CBT interventions to children & Young persons and managing own caseload.
  • 2 years + experience in Children and Young People (CYP Mental Health) / CAMHS services
  • IT Skills including proficiency using Microsoft Systems as well as electronic medical record systems.
  • Safeguarding and robust risk assessment experience with children and young people is essential.
  • Ability to present to groups and deliver training workshops also preferred.
  • Right to work in the UK.
