The NCBRNC brings together emergency services to protect and prepare the UK against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Hosted by West Midlands Police, this Counter Terrorism Police capability is based at the College of Policing, Ryton-on-Dunsmore. The role involves working Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, with 10-hour shifts.

Role description

This position involves supporting the planning and deployment of radiation and nuclear detection equipment at major public events, and responding to radioactive or nuclear sources out of regulatory control. The role supports national security strategies and involves working with key partners across the CBRN landscape. Travel within the UK is expected, with allowances provided for travel, sustenance, and accommodation.

Key responsibilities

  • Deploy radiological and nuclear detection equipment operationally across the UK.
  • Collaborate with host forces to integrate detection architecture at public events.
  • Develop deployment plans for operational activities.
  • Participate in the NCBRNC Duty Officer / RNID On-Call rotation, supporting 24/7 operational readiness.
