Job summary

St Edmund Campion Catholic School in Birmingham seeks a dedicated leader to head Catholic life and mission. The post holder will drive the religious ethos across curriculum and pastoral life, working with the headteacher, governors, clergy and chaplains to promote faith-based education in partnership with the diocese and local Church.

The role requires a practising Catholic with leadership experience in a faith school, capable of modelling Gospel values and coordinating liturgical events,

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate a commitment to Catholic ethos in all aspects of school life.
• Ability to consult effectively with the governing board, the diocese, local authority, staff, parents and parish communities.
• Knowledge of the Catholic Schools Inspectorate requirements and Canon 806 implications.
• Experience leading school improvement and CPD for staff in a faith-based school would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic vision and leadership for Catholic life and mission across the school.
• Ensure compliance with diocesan directives and canon law where relevant.
• Lead staff formation and CPD on Catholic life and mission for whole‑school engagement.
• Support governors in guardianship of the school’s Catholic mission and ethos.
• Engage with diocesan officers and parish partners to integrate faith into school life.
• Coordinate chaplaincy, retreats, liturgical events and parish partnerships.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of Catholic life and mission.
