Job summary

The King's School, Chester is seeking an experienced Catering Supervisor to lead the school’s catering team during term-time. The role focuses on delivering high-quality food service, supervising staff, and collaborating with the Head Chef to ensure smooth daily operations and events.

You will maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, provide a welcoming hospitality experience for pupils and staff, and be flexible to support school functions and busy periods as required.

Qualifications

• Has experience in hospitality, catering or events.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Catering Supervisor to join our friendly and professional catering team.

What You Do

• Supervise the day-to-day catering operation, ensuring excellent food service and customer satisfaction.
• Lead, motivate and support the catering team to deliver high standards at all times.
• Work closely with the General Catering Manager and Head Chef to ensure the smooth running of daily services and events.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, allergen management and cleanliness.
• Deliver a warm, welcoming hospitality experience for pupils, staff, visitors and guests.
• Support the planning and delivery of school functions, conferences and hospitality events.
• Promote teamwork, provide on-the-job training and encourage continuous improvement across the catering team.

What You Bring

• Has previous experience in hospitality, catering or events.
• Is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
• Can lead, motivate and support a team during busy service periods.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities.
• Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety.
• Is flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of school events.
• Experience within an education or independent school environment and a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential.
