Catering Supervisor – Holte Secondary School, Lozells B19 2EP

Permanent

Grade 4 - £33,366 - £40,476 (Salary is on a Pro Rata Basis)

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week - working times are Monday - Friday term time only between 7:30am-3pm approx.., Hours to be confirmed

To include 3 cleaning days, 3 training days and teacher training days

Cityserve is a Birmingham City Council catering service for school meals providing fresh and nutritious food for school kitchens across the UK. Healthy eating is a continuous theme throughout all of our menus, and we are committed to the wellbeing of pupils. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, delivers excellent customer service, and is able to motivate and support team members.

As a Catering Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals for all pupils and some staff including Mayfield Special School.
  • Planning and controlling all aspects of the service.
  • Ensuring the kitchen is maintained to the highest of cleaning standards.
  • Costing, stocktaking, and keeping appropriate records using IT skills/ Word/Excel etc.
  • Food ordering using the Saffron IT System.
  • Using Cunninghams Cashless system.
  • Management of 15 staff and all staff training.
  • Understanding budgets.
  • Maintaining a budgeted menu with balanced diets and allergen control.
  • Being aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences.
  • Working collaboratively with managers and supervisors to ensure the first-class delivery of food in school kitchens.

Previous kitchen experience is essential to this role.

  • Food Safety Level 3 Certificate in date.
  • Qualifications in Food Catering – i.e. 706/1 & 2 etc.
  • Maths and English qualification C or grade 4 and above.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Allergy Awareness Certificate in date.
  • Experience in a similar environment.
  • High standards and quality drive.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude.
