Job summary

1st Step Education and Training, based in Leicestershire, is seeking a Teaching Assistant / Classroom Lead to run the Catering Skills programme from a mobile trailer across local schools.

You will support delivery of catering sessions and assist in other courses, with no requirement to be a qualified chef; training provided. This role offers term-time hours and opportunities to develop practical skills and confidence in young people.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Catering Skills programme from the mobile trailer at schools across Leicestershire.
• Deliver engaging cooking sessions to small groups of learners.
• Demonstrate basic cooking techniques and support learners safely.
• Prepare the trailer, equipment, ingredients and resources for sessions.
• Support other courses including Nail Technology, Construction and Barbering.
• Maintain a positive, well‑managed classroom environment and support teachers.
