Job summary

Elizabeth Finn Homes Limited is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to support the Hotel Services Manager at Rush Court Care Home in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. You will help create nutritious meals reflecting residents’ preferences within a planned production model and an à la carte style.

With no late nights, structured rotas and consistent hours, this role offers genuine work‑life balance. Right to work in the UK is required; HACCP/COSHH/IDDSI knowledge is desirable and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience catering for large numbers in a care home is desirable.
• Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and IDDSI.
• Willingness to work 10‑hour shifts on a rota including alternate weekends.
• NVQ II/III in Catering.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Collaborative, resident-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Hotel Services Manager in providing high quality, nutritionally balanced meals.
• Prepare and cook meals following menus prepared by the Catering Manager.
• Supervise and train junior catering staff.
• Train staff in Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
• Order and check kitchen supplies, maintain stock records.
• Ensure safe storage and economical use of food and supplies.

Hourly Rate: £18.85per hour
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shifts: 10hour shifts,weekend working required.

What you'll do

• To assist the HSM in the provision and maintenance of a high quality, nutritionally balanced and well presented food service.
• The preparation and cooking of food following menus already prepared by the Catering Manager.
• To supervise and help train junior staff in catering duties.
• To train junior staff in all Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and COSHH regulations, ensuring compliance with the same.
• Order and check in all kitchen supplies, maintaining stock control systems and accurate records.
• To ensure the safe storage of all food stuffs, to control the stock rotation and to ensure the economical use of supplies.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience catering for significant numbers in a Care Home is desirable
• Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and IDDSI
• Ability to work 10‑hour shifts on a rota including alternate weekends.
• NVQ II/III in Catering
• Strong organisational skills with consistent attention to detail.
• A collaborative, resident‑focused approach.
