Job summary

Vertas is seeking a Catering Manager to lead two catering outlets at Riverside Leisure Centre in Chelmsford. You will oversee day-to-day operations, maintain hygiene, train staff and ensure excellent customer service across the cafe and front of house.

Based at Riverside Leisure Centre, 37.5 hours per week across five days including weekends and bank holidays, with responsibilities spanning procurement, budgeting and staff management.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise and develop a cafe team.
• Able to manage budgets and control stock.

Responsibilities

• Communicating regularly with customers and clients to ensure a high level of service is being received.
• Supervision of the cafe including monitoring hygiene standards, staff training and all day-to-day operations of the kitchen and front of house.
• Undertake and lead a team in the preparation, cooking and service of food and drinks.
• Administrative work, including placing orders, cash handling, stock control and monitoring of food budgets.
• Checking and recording the amount, price and condition of all food/non-food deliveries and taking any necessary action required.
• To take responsibility for the standards of cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen premises and equipment whilst maintaining sufficient stock levels of cleaning materials.
• Compliance with company Health & Safety requirements and company policies including safeguarded
• Keeping up to date with mandatory training requirements
• Ensuring colleagues are up to date with mandatory training
• Controlling costs for consumables and staff labour to ensure the business is profitable
• Communicate regularly with your line manager and other business key personnel and reply to emails in a timely manner.
• Promote your site using POS and social media
• Any other reasonable management requests
