Job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM FM is currently seeking a School Catering Manager to join our team at Hindhayes Infant School in Street, Somerset.

Available Shift Pattern:
• 30 hours a week, Monday-Friday
• 08.00-14.30
• Term-time only
Overtime available

Your mission

As a Catering Manager, your primary mission will be to ensure the efficient operation of the school kitchen and provide high-quality catering services. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Preparation of meals in accordance with agreed recipes/methods
  2. Ingredient preparation under direction
  3. Adherence to HACCP and food safety regulations
  4. Separation of clean and dirty processes
  5. Preparation of food for transportation
  6. Decanting and/or serving food when required
  7. Maintaining food safety records using the current management system
  8. Refilling and replacing consumables
  9. Monitoring and arranging the storage of supplies
  10. Treating all customers with courtesy and consideration
  11. Working safely with kitchen equipment and addressing maintenance issues
  12. Maintaining accurate stock levels, including kitchen materials
  13. Assisting in achieving financial targets
  14. Managing waste through correct product measurement
  15. Participating in training and development opportunities
  16. Adhering to all company policies and procedures
  17. Contributing to team meetings and following instructions from the management team and head office
Who are we looking for?

• Willingness to obtain a recognised catering qualification
• Desirable: Level 2 Hygiene Certificate
• Knowledge of health and safety practices in the kitchen
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Desirable: Good ICT skills
• Ability to use relevant equipment
• Awareness of COSHH regulations
• Strong communication skills
• Knowledge of health and hygiene procedures
• Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities
