Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is recruiting an experienced Catering and Culinary Arts Lecturer for a part-time, contract role in Chelmsford. The post involves teaching across Catering and Culinary Arts programmes, preparing lessons, and supporting student progression.

You will plan schemes of work, assess learning, and contribute to quality assurance while upholding food safety and safeguarding standards. The role starts in September and offers up to £42 per hour for 18.5 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or professional experience in Catering, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related discipline.
• Experience delivering Catering/Culinary Arts within a UK FE college, preferably Levels 1-3.
• Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one.
• Strong practical catering skills and knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, assessment, safeguarding, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across Catering and Culinary Arts programmes across levels 1-3.
• Plan and develop lesson plans, schemes of work, resources, and assessments per awarding body requirements.
• Monitor student progress, attendance, achievement and provide feedback and guidance to promote progression.
• Contribute to curriculum development, internal verification, industry engagement, events, and uphold hygiene, health and safeguarding standards.

• Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching and assessment across Catering and Culinary Arts programmes, covering food preparation, cookery techniques, food safety, kitchen operations, and professional practice.
• Plan and develop lesson plans, schemes of work, learning resources, and assessments in line with awarding body requirements and industry standards.
• Monitor student progress, attendance, and achievement while providing constructive feedback, personal tutoring, pastoral support, and guidance to promote progression and employability.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, internal verification, industry engagement, competitions, events, and catering activities, while maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification or professional experience in Catering, Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, Hospitality, or a related discipline.
• Experience delivering Catering/Culinary Arts within a UK Further Education (FE) college, preferably across Levels 1-3.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one.
• Strong practical catering skills and knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, assessment, safeguarding, and industry standards, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
