Job summary

Denstone College is seeking a flexible and dedicated catering assistant to join our busy kitchen. You will help prepare, cook and present meals for staff and pupils, ensuring high standards and cost-conscious service in a safe, hygienic environment.

You should hold a Catering and Hospitality qualification or be experienced in a similar role, with Food Hygiene Level 2. The role requires teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring a consistently high standard of culinary produce-including preparation, cooking, and presentation-consistent with practical economy.
• Maintaining regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance, alongside adherence to relevant Health & Safety procedures.
• Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene in the preparation and cooking of food.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen equipment and the kitchen areas.
• Supervising the Catering Assistants in the absence of the Chef Supervisor.
• Assisting in serving all meals for College staff and pupils, and for other functions held within the College.
• Conserving energy by extinguishing powered cooking equipment, hot plates, and lights when not required.
• Carrying out such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Site Services Manager.
• Pursuing personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
