Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our catering team in Scotland. You will help with daily food preparation, serve meals and drinks, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers.

The role is on a term-time basis (38.8 weeks) with a 11:30am–14:00pm shift, and the position is temporary until 30/09/2027. Successful candidates must join the PVG Scheme before starting.

• Has good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Understands customer needs and current food trends.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Experience within a catering environment is desirable, and holding an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage.

Join our dedicated catering team and play a key role in delivering a warm, welcoming, and high quality service to our customers.

As a Catering Assistant, you will work efficiently to support daily food preparation, serve meals and beverages, and help maintain a clean, safe, and friendly environment. Your positive attitude and commitment to great customer service will make a real difference in our busy setting.

We are looking for someone who:

• Communicates clearly and confidently
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills
• Understands customer needs and current food trends
• Works well as part of a team
• Brings experience of customer service, with some exposure to till or cash handling

Experience within a catering environment is desirable, and holding an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage.
