The NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time catering assistant at Hallam Street Hospital to support in-patient meal service and hospital restaurant operations.

You will handle cash, follow HACCP and COSHH procedures, and maintain high food hygiene standards while working 15 hours a week. Experience in mental health or learning disabilities is desirable; Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification is essential with induction training provided.

This 15-hour catering assistant post sits in the Catering Department at Hallam Street Hospital, part of Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The work centres on preparing and serving in-patient meals and drinks, or working in the patient, staff and visitor restaurant, with cleaning, cash handling and HACCP paperwork. Shifts run Monday to Friday, 14:30 to 17:30, and experience in a mental health or learning disabilities service is desirable. A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification is essential, and mandatory training is given on induction.

What the job involves

• Prepare and serve in-patient meals and beverages across the hospital
• Work in the patient, staff and visitor restaurant
• Handle cash
• Carry out cleaning tasks to schedule
• Complete HACCP paperwork
• Ensure departmental HACCP and COSHH are followed
• Follow CQC, environmental health, catering and trust legislation and standards
• Carry out predetermined tasks, including lifting and moving products
• Work in cold conditions wearing the PPE provided

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification
• NVQ level 1 in Food Preparation or equivalent experience
• Good basic education, with the ability to read, write and do numeracy
