Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to work in Leeds Art Gallery and Leeds City Museum, based in the heart of Leeds. You will prepare and serve food and drinks, and deliver a warm welcome with excellent customer service for visitors, including event catering within the buildings.

This permanent role is 28 hours per week, across midweek and weekend shifts, at the Tiled Hall and Herbarium Café, supporting room hire catering and contributing to a high-quality visitor experience.

Qualifications

• Experience of working as part of a team to deliver a high quality customer experience.
• Ability to prepare basic ingredients e.g. sandwiches, salads and snacks.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of people individually, in groups and at all appropriate levels.
• Ability to account for monies and card transactions.
• Ability to work effectively unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient and polite catering service to customers offering excellent customer service.
• Assist in the preparation, display and service of food and drink.
• Clean in the kitchen and all service areas to a high standard.
• Assist with the preparation and delivery of a catering service for room hire and evening events.
• Ensure that Health and Hygiene Regulations are adhered to.
• Wear appropriate protective clothing (including rubber gloves) as requested, and any uniform/aprons as provided.
• Be able to work as part of a team and act on instructions from senior staff.
• Attend appropriate training courses as requested to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Always promote the objectives of Leeds Museums and Galleries service via the provision of a quality service.
• To work in various areas, covering commensurate duties as required.
