Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a friendly catering operative to join our team across multiple sites. This part-time role is 15 hours per week, with shifts from 06:00 to 19:00, five days over seven including weekends, and based at Moorside unit.

You will work as part of a kitchen and service team, providing patient meals and maintaining hygiene standards (level 2 food hygiene or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining food hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a customer-focused service.
  • Clean crockery, pots and pans using an industrial dishwasher and manual washing.
  • Prepare hot and cold food items and serve meals to service users.
  • Adhere to hygiene, risk management, and security policies.
  • Carry out general and specialised cleaning tasks per Trust procedures.
  • Complete mandatory training in COSHH and HACCP.

Job description

We are looking to add to our great catering team to work across various sites within the trust. The role will be 15 hours a week working a range of shifts from 06:00 to 19:00 5 days over 7 (including weekends)

The successful candidate will be a great team player working in our kitchens and service points, who is capable of helping the teams to continue in delivering a fantastic food service to our service users within the units . They will be a great communicator, and have the ability to think on their feet.

Candidates will be expected to have or to be able to gain at least a level 2 food hygiene level of knowledge

The role will include basic kitchen duties as well as assisting in food service to our service users.

The role will be based at Moorside unit. However you will be required to support for other units.

Please note - This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide a customer focused service.
  • Cleaning of crockery, pots and pans. using an industrial dishwashing machine and manually washing.
  • Preparation of hot and cold food items, service of patient and other meals or functions.
  • To adhere to safe working practices in all aspects of hygiene management.
  • To adhere to safe working practices in all aspects of risk management and security.
  • Carry out general and specialised cleaning tasks in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • To undertake mandatory training in COSHH, HACCP and comply with all Trust policies relevant to the post particularly with regard to the food hygiene policy'
  • The loading of ovens and food trolleys

Please be aware this role may require periods of standing , and may involve the moving and lifting of goods and food stuffs - so the successful applicant will have to be capable of such duties
