Job description

Contract: Part Time, Permanent
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Hours: 26.25 per week

A leading independent private school in Wokingham, Berkshire, for girls and boys aged 3-16, catering for 850 students and teachers daily. We offer lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, and some hospitality services. This is a term-time only contract working 34 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 3.00pm. Additional overtime is available for hospitality and functions. Free on-site parking is an additional benefit.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our friendly team at our prestigious contracts in Wokingham.

Role responsibilities include:

• Serving clients during lunch and hospitality services.
• Setting up dining and meeting rooms for service.
• Preparing food following hygiene and safety standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen to the standards set by the Chef Manager or hygiene regulations.
• Clearing, cleaning, and storing food, beverages, and equipment for special functions.
• Restocking stocks and consumables during service.
• Operating cleaning and dishwashing equipment, and storing equipment properly.
• Completing cleaning and hygiene duties as required.
• Interacting professionally with customers and staff.

General responsibilities:

• Adhering to policies and procedures to promote professionalism and flexibility.
• Wearing a neat and clean uniform at all times.
• Conducting food temperature checks and other safety checks.
• Carrying out reasonable requests from management.
• Reporting hazards and maintaining health and safety standards.

Personal skills and attributes:

• Experience in catering and customer service environments.
• Teamwork, good listening skills, initiative, and personal presentation.
• Flexibility, reliability, honesty, and customer-focused attitude.
• Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
• Ability to lift, carry, and push moderately heavy items.
• Good verbal and written English skills.
• Experience in food preparation and customer service preferred.
