Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is hiring a dedicated kitchen assistant to join the Jacobs Neurological Centre team in Sawbridgeworth. You will support chefs with meal preparation, serve residents, maintain safe storage, and help with deliveries, contributing to a calm, caring environment for people with complex neurological needs.

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company's policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

Location

Where you will be working: Gardens Neurological Centre and Jacobs Neurological Centre have a combined total of 132 beds on the same site in Sawbridgeworth (CM21 0HH), which is on the Hertfordshire and Essex border within easy travelling distance of London and Cambridge. The two Centres deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions, and brain or spinal injuries who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability. Recovery is assisted wherever possible, with emphasis placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life. Each service has communal lounges, dining rooms, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with over 95% on single occupancy. All rooms are adapted to each resident's requirements according to their assessments and needs.
