Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Catering Assistant at Barnet Lane Clinic in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. You will support the kitchen team, prepare meals, maintain hygiene standards, and assist with deliveries as part of a dedicated CCRS unit.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, 8am–6pm across 4 days with every other weekend. Full training and a strong supportive culture are offered.

Qualifications

• Relevant catering qualification is desirable.
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist catering staff with preparation and cooking of meals.
• Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensure all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Ensure kitchen and related areas meet hygiene standards and policies.
• Liaise with dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals.

You’ll be working in a specialist Complex Care and Recovery Service (CCRS), supporting adults with complex needs who benefit from a more tailored, long-term recovery approach beyond standard care settings.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours a week. 8am to 6pm rotating across 4 days a week and every other weekend.

As a Catering Assistant You Will Be

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role.

Barnet Lane’s Complex Care and Recovery Service (CCRS) is a highly specialised, bespoke inpatient adult service designed to support individuals whose needs exceed the scope of traditional inpatient service models. The service specialises in treating patients who have experienced multiple or prolonged admissions, stalled discharge pathways, or who have been unable to progress within conventional care environments.
