Job summary

Prestwick-based Sodexo Group is seeking a Catering Assistant to join a friendly team. You will prepare and present food, set up service areas, and provide excellent customer service in a busy catering environment.

The role is 36 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 07:30am-15:30pm and Friday 07:30am-13:30pm, at a rate of £13.45 per hour. Benefits include free parking and access to Sodexo's employee benefits package and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and presentation of food and beverages.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads and other food items ready for service.
• Set up and maintain hot counters, salad bars and service areas.
• Serve food, tea, coffee and refreshments to customers.
• Provide friendly, efficient and professional service throughout the day.
• Operate the till and process customer transactions during service.
• Ensure food is presented attractively and maintained to high quality standards.
• Replenish counters, chillers and service areas during service.
• Check deliveries and complete required food temperature checks and records.
• Keep tables, counters and customer areas clean, tidy and well stocked.
• Wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and catering equipment.
• Complete general kitchen and catering-area cleaning.
• Clean and replenish vending machines where required.
• Follow all Food Safety, Health & Safety, hygiene and COSHH procedures.
• Complete relevant food safety and service documentation.
• Report safety concerns, incidents or near misses promptly.
• Support special functions and other areas of the catering operation when required.

Previous catering or food service experience would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Food Safety training or certification would also be advantageous.
