Job summary

Aspens Services is seeking a Catering Assistant for our school dining teams in Truro. You will support the kitchen with basic food prep and provide friendly service during the lunchtime rush, helping meals run smoothly.

Hours are term-time, Monday to Friday, 12.5 hours weekly across 38.6 weeks per year, at £12.71 per hour. Training is provided for Health and Safety and food hygiene as needed, with emphasis on teamwork and quality service.

Qualifications

• Team player and thrive in a busy kitchen team.
• Catering or fast-paced service experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices desired.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 is nice but training is provided.

Responsibilities

The role:

As a Catering Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting our kitchen in basic food preparation and delivering excellent service that makes the lunchtime rush run smoothly.

You’ll be making a real difference through responsibilities that include:

Customer Interaction:

Working on the tills during service (don’t worry, full training is provided!).

Front-Line Service:

Providing friendly, polite customer service to all students and staff.

Essential Support:

Assisting the team with basic food preparation

Maintaining Standards:

Ensuring a safe, clean kitchen environment and meeting Health and Safety compliance

About you:
