Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant (Grade 2 – Pro Rata) to operate at a day centre and residential centre. You will work under a cook, keeping a clean, safe kitchen and dining environment.

You will promote welfare of vulnerable adults, assist with cleaning, handling tables, and preparing basic meals under supervision, while following health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• 1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults.
• 2. To clean kitchen and dining areas and utility rooms under instructions of the cook using domestic cleaning equipment.
• 3. To lay, wait at and clean dining room tables and wash up cutlery, crockery etc to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• 4. To prepare basic meals for customers under supervision.
• 5. To use laundry equipment e.g. washing machines and tumble dryers.
• 6. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council.
