Job summary

Sketchley Hall School is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the catering team and support basic food preparation, hygiene and healthy eating for our children and young people.

Working two days a week (Thursday and Friday) from 8:00 to 14:45, you will assist the Chef and help keep the kitchen and service areas clean and compliant with safety policies. Training and progression opportunities are provided within Aspris Children’s Services.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen is desirable.
• Ability to work with children and demonstrate patience and care.
• Strong teamwork and communication with staff and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and food hygiene under supervision.
• Support the Chef with the preparation and cooking of meals in line with policies.
• Ensure kitchen and associated areas meet hygiene standards.

Sketchley Hall School is recruiting for a catering assistant to join their catering team! We are looking for passionate people, who can support the provision of the catering operation assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene and who can promote healthy eating and contribute to the wellbeing of our Children and Young People. In this role, you will under direction, take responsibly for parts of the catering operation, ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the Company's Assured Safe Catering Policies and Processes and assist the Chef with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with these.

This role is for two days per week, these days will be Thursday and Friday with working hours of 8am to 2:45pm both days.

Sketchley School is an independent day school for young people aged 7-19 with autism and associated conditions. We provide personalised education in a calm, nurturing environment across 3 sites, Sketchley Hall, Forest House and Progression House, helping each pupil grow in confidence, rediscover their love of learning, and realise their full potential. Previous experience preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment along with the following characteristics: Communication Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff. Organisation You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people. Attentive No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
