Job summary

La Retraite RC Girls’ School is seeking a friendly Part-Time Catering Assistant to join the in-house catering team. This term-time role runs 11am–2pm, Monday to Friday, for 3 hours per day, ASAP.

The successful candidate will support food prep, plating and service for students and staff in a busy school environment. Desirable qualifications include a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and prior kitchen experience; training and Local Government Pension Scheme access are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or commercial kitchen is desirable.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge preferred.
• Able to interact well with students, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Support with basic food preparation, washing, peeling and chopping ingredients.
• Plate and serve hot and cold meals to students and staff.
• Ensure dining areas are clean before, during and after service.
• Wash up and assist in kitchen cleaning.
• Follow Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures.
• Help with other duties and occasional events outside normal hours.

We are seeking to appoint a friendly, efficient, and enthusiastic Part-Time Catering Assistant to join our dedicated in-house catering team ASAP. This is a term-time-only role, working 3 hours per day from 11am to 2pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the catering team with basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients
• Assisting with the plating and serving of hot and cold meals to students and staff
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the floor and tables in the dining areas before, during and after service
• Help with washing up and cleaning in the kitchen
• Following Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures to maintain high standards
• Helping with other duties as required, including special event support
• Occasionally helping to cater for special catering events outside the regular working hours

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A positive, friendly and approachable manner, with the ability to interact well with students, staff, and visitors
• Knowledge of basic food hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate desirable)
• Previous experience in a school or commercial kitchen is desirable but not essential
• A flexible, team-orientated attitude and willingness to help with a variety of kitchen tasks
