Job summary

The Hathaway Academy in Grays, Essex, is seeking a friendly Catering Assistant to help with basic food preparation, setting up servery counters for lunch, and general kitchen cleaning. You will join a dynamic catering team and work closely with a Catering Manager and senior leaders.

You will develop strong time management, communication and customer care skills while contributing to pupil meals and a positive dining experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or food service is desirable.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and some cooking.
• Assist with setting up servery counters for lunch.
• General cleaning of kitchen and related areas; support Catering Manager and SLT.

The Hathaway Academy are looking to appoint an individual to assist with the basic preparation of food which may include some cooking and assist with the setting up of servery counters for lunch and general cleaning of the kitchen and associated areas. You will have excellent communication, organisational and customer care skills, the ability to operate IT equipment e.g. tills is essential. The department is part of a well led, mutually supportive Catering team and the appointed candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and will be supported by a Catering Manager and a strong SLT.
