Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Catering Assistant for a welcoming Bolton school. You will help with the preparation and serving of meals to pupils and staff, while following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.

This is a temporary/permanent role with temp-to-perm routes, offering flexible days and APSCo-compliant onboarding. Ideal candidates are reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a friendly catering team in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification is essential.
• Experience in catering or food service is desirable.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen awareness.
• Reliable, punctual and a team player.
• Willing to obtain Enhanced DBS if needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and serving of meals to pupils and staff.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen and dining area.
• Support the wider catering team with day-to-day kitchen duties.
• Ensure food is handled, stored and served safely in line with school and statutory requirements.
• Provide friendly and professional service to pupils and staff.

Requirements or Skills:

• Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification - essential
• Previous experience working in a catering, kitchen or food service environment is desirable
• Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen awareness
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Comfortable working in a busy environment and following instructions from senior catering staff
• A positive attitude and a genuine commitment to maintaining high standards
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one through Milk Education
