We have an exciting new opportunity for a Category Manager in our Beer & Cider team in Booker, which can be based from any of our Support Centres in Wellingborough, Watford or Eccles.

The role of Category Manager is focused on maximising the profitability of specific product categories, enhancing customer satisfaction, and increasing cash profit.

Main Responsibilities
  1. The development and implementation of category plans to ensure sales, margin, and profit targets are met while maintaining product availability.
  2. Growing own brand business through sourcing to increase sales and margins.
  3. Negotiating annually with suppliers to secure competitive terms.
  4. Responding to customer feedback to shape category plans, linking to sell plans and customer satisfaction.
  5. Handling customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly.
  6. Communicating category plans and objectives effectively to ensure understanding and buy-in.
  7. Ensuring product areas in business centres reflect principles of good, better, and best.
  8. Collaborating with the team to identify opportunities and improve workflows.
  9. Leading the category team, managing performance, and developing succession plans aligned with Booker’s values of inclusion and development.
  10. Adhering to the Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
You will need
Operational skills relevant for this job
  1. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  2. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make commercial decisions.
  3. Attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and accurate record-keeping.
  4. Knowledge of relevant markets and market developments.
  5. Flexibility in work approach.
Experience relevant for this job
  1. Extensive experience in FMG and working within a buying team.
  2. Proven ability to work autonomously.
  3. Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns.
