Job summary

Polypipe Civils, part of Genuit Group, seeks a Product/Category leader to own strategy and performance across markets and channels. You will shape roadmaps, drive NPD, pricing, and marketing direction while collaborating with engineering, production, and sales teams.

The role requires translating technical concepts into commercial outcomes, managing lifecycle stages, and delivering profitability with cross‑functional teams across the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in Category or Product Management.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, production processes and supply chain dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver clear product/category strategies and roadmaps aligned to overall business objectives, driving revenue growth and profitability.
• Define and communicate compelling value propositions tailored to target users, customers, and markets.
• Generate robust market insights, including segmentation, forecasting, competitor analysis, and identification of growth opportunities.
• Own the full product lifecycle (concept to end-of-life), optimising portfolio performance and supporting planning/forecasting processes.
• Set and manage commercial performance targets (revenue, margin, growth). Cross‑functional delivery across teams.
• Lead pricing strategy and value-based selling to maximise margin and market positioning.
• Drive new product development (NPD) from concept to launch with business cases and specs.
• Oversee marketing direction, messaging, and multi-channel execution.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and act as technical/product expert.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships for alignment and delivery.

Role Overview

To own the end-to-end performance and strategy of a defined product or category across all markets and sales channels, ensuring the portfolio delivers sustainable revenue growth, margin expansion, and competitive differentiation throughout the product / category lifecycle.

To establish and deliver defined and structured product / category roadmaps identifying both current and future market opportunities and owning the process from innovation, go to market, marketing, production and end of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pricing strategy and value-based selling approaches to maximise margin and ensure consistent market positioning
• Drive new product development (NPD), from concept through to launch, including business cases, specifications, and cross-functional delivery
• Oversee marketing direction by briefing teams, shaping messaging, and ensuring high-quality, consistent execution across channels
• Ensure regulatory compliance and act as the technical/product expert, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and requirements
• Build and manage strong stakeholder relationships, influencing across functions to ensure alignment, effective decision-making, and successful delivery

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience working in Category or Product Management.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, production processes, and supply chain dynamics.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into commercial outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Data‑driven mindset with strong analytical ability.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and product lifecycle management tools.
