Job summary

Polypipe Building Services, specialists in engineered drainage and water systems, seeks a Procurement Specialist to lead cross-category procurement and manage incumbent suppliers within the Genuit Group framework.

You will develop category strategies, drive cost savings and ensure compliance, while collaborating with R&D, Quality and other stakeholders. The role supports a hybrid pattern after induction across site and home working environments.

Qualifications

• Proven previous experience in Strategic Procurement.
• Strong negotiator leading commercial and contractual negotiations.
• Experience creating and implementing Category plans.
• Well-developed influencing skills.
• Membership of CIPS or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of industry regulations such as ISO.
• Strategic thinker with drive to succeed.
• Computer literate—Excel and Word essential; previous IFS use an advantage.
• Good communication skills, able to present to SLT and above.
• Highly motivated with initiative to benefit the company.

Responsibilities

• Follow procurement process for defined local suppliers, incl. negotiations, sourcing, due diligence, onboarding.
• Create and implement procurement strategies for defined categories.
• Identify and deliver annual savings to meet targets.
• Meet cash conversion targets through improved supplier terms.
• De-risk supply chain and ensure continuity via supplier contracts.
• Collaborate with group procurement on policy, compliance and processes.
• Support centrally sourced products/services with information sharing and project implementation.
• Build strong SRM relationships with key suppliers.
• Produce spend, savings, cash conversion, KPI reports and progress.

Specialists in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems, Polypipe Building Services leverages offsite fabrication to design and deliver solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors as well as local authorities. Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years.

Role Overview

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for procurement activities both direct and indirect across all categories. They will lead the process of finding, evaluating and managing incumbent suppliers, their products and services, as well as create category strategies that redefine the supply chain and have an output of high performing suppliers, and cost reduction opportunities. They will ensure all procurement activities are aligned to the group procurement processes and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow the procurement process for a defined list of local suppliers, including managing negotiations, new supplier sourcing, due diligence/compliance and onboarding
• Create and implement procurement strategies for defined categories
• Identify and deliver annual savings to meet pre-defined targets
• Meet cash conversion targets of improved supplier payment terms
• De-risk supply chain and ensure supply continuity through the rollout of supplier contracts
• Work closely with group procurement for policy, compliance and processes.
• Support centrally sourced products/services with information share and project implementation
• Develop excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders such as R&D, Product Management, Quality and CI Project manage any procurement led cost saving opportunities through the business until realisation
• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
• Produce statistical reports and analysis on spend, cost saving, cash conversion, contractual progress and KPI performance detail
• Manage supplier performance, ensuring quality, cost and delivery against KPI’s.

Key Skills/ Experience

• Proven previous experience in Strategic Procurement
• Be a strong negotiator who will lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers on behalf of the business.
• Experience of creating and implementing Category plans
• Well-developed influencing skills
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards i.e. ISO
• Strategic thinker with strong drive to succeed
• Computer literate - knowledge of Excel and Word essential, Previous IFS use an advantage
• Good communication skills, confident to present to SLT and above.
• Highly motivated with ability to work under own initiative, making decisions to benefit the company

Working Hours & Benefits

• Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week)
• A hybrid pattern of 3 days in office and 2 days at home is possible after initial induction
