Job summary

Willerby Ltd is seeking a confident Category Buyer to join our Procurement team in Hull. You will drive total cost of acquisition and deliver year-on-year cost reductions while developing commodity strategies and supplier partnerships.

You will work with manufacturing supply chains, perform supplier audits, and help implement lean principles to improve value across Willerby’s supply base. A CIPS qualification or progression is preferred.

We have a brilliant opportunity for a confident and focussed Category Buyer, who is eager to take on a new challenge working within our Procurement team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive and delivery of best ‘Total Cost of Acquisition.’
• Achieve year on year cost reduction based on predetermined KPIs.
• Develop and implement top level commodity strategies
• Work closely with current an new supply chains driving and delivering key strategic projects
• Sourcing and approval of new suppliers
• Work closely with Willerby’s Supplier Quality Team in the development and implementation of new products
• Work with supply partners to achieve Lean Manufacturing
• Work with key internal stakeholders to bring about improvements
• Conduct supplier and commodity risk assessments, developing robust contingency plans
• Assisting the relevant parties in the resolution of supply chain problems.

About You

• CIPS qualified or working towards
• Experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
• Previous experience of working within a procurement role
• Experience of lean manufacturing techniques
• Control and development of a supplier portfolio of greater than £2million
• Track record of consistently achieving year on year cost savings
• Ability to undertake effective supplier audits and reviews
• understanding of key financial accounting information
• Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills
• Commercial awareness
• Good level of IT skills and experience of MRP systems and processes
