Whatnot seeks a Category Associate to expand our presence in the French market by identifying and recruiting new sellers. You will become the go-to expert for your category, building strong relationships with sellers and strategic partners while driving growth through influencer partnerships and data-driven insights.

You will work in a remote-friendly setup with hubs in London or Berlin, requiring you to be within commuting distance for in-person collaboration and planning.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in fast-paced, client-facing roles (e.g., Strategy Consulting, Private Equity, partnerships) in tech.
• Able to work in ambiguous environments with limited guidance.
• Strong problem solving and end-to-end strategy execution.
• Business acumen, analytical, data-driven decision making.
• Fluent in French & English (written & spoken) with deep knowledge of the French market.

Responsibilities

• Become the go-to expert for your category and be the face of Whatnot to sellers/buyers.
• Source and onboard sellers; leverage social media, outbound channels and events.
• Build and maintain relationships with sellers and partners; communicate product feedback.
• Lead marketing initiatives, including influencer campaigns to boost brand awareness by attracting buyers.
• Use SQL to derive insights and improve processes and measure category growth.

Role

As a Category Associate, you’ll expand Whatnot’s presence in new and existing categories by identifying and recruiting new sellers to join our community in the French market.

• Go-to expert of your category
  • Become the go-to expert on your category, including seller/buyer dynamics, community channels, influencers, and product nuances
  • Become the face of Whatnot for the community of sellers and buyers that you represent
• Seller outreach and onboarding
  • Source and reach out to sellers to convince them to join and grow their business on Whatnot. Leverage social media, outbound channels, and in-person events
  • Onboard groups of sellers teaching them how to use the app
• Relationship management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sellers and top strategic partners to support their growth and meet their needs
  • Collaborate with partners to develop business growth strategies and communicate product improvements and feedback
• Marketing and growth
  • Spearhead diverse marketing initiatives, such as influencer partnerships/campaigns, to boost brand awareness and attract more buyers
• Data analytics
  • Use basic data analytics skills (SQL) to derive insights from projects and enhance process efficiency
  • Utilize key data points to assess category growth, success, and areas for improvement, driving continuous iteration

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our London, UK or Berlin, Germany hubs.

As Our Next Category Associate, You Should Have

• 2+ years of experience working in a fast-paced, client-facing role in high output environments, such as: Strategy Consulting, Private Equity, or partnerships at a fast-paced tech company
• You are scrappy and flexible enough to work in an ambiguous environment with limited guidance
• You are a problem solver with strong project management skills and the ability to fully own strategy and execution on both sides of an emerging marketplace
• You have business acumen, are deeply analytical, and comfortable understanding and manipulating data to gain and take action on business insights
• Fluent in French & English (written & spoken) with a deep understanding of the French market

Nice to Have

• Experience at a high-growth startup, marketplace, or creator-focused platform
• Proficiency in SQL
• Passion for creator communities and/or expertise in existing Whatnot product categories (e.g. vintage clothing, collectibles)
• Experience buying and selling in online marketplaces

Compensation Range: €81K - €90K
