Job summary

Sompo in London is seeking a Catastrophe Modelling Analyst to join our Catastrophe Modelling team. You will develop expertise across underwriting analytics and support decision making with advanced modelling across Property, Energy, Marine and other lines.

The role requires experience in catastrophe modelling, RMS modelling, SQL and VBA, and strong data analysis. You will collaborate with underwriting and brokers, interpret data, and contribute to reporting, regulatory returns and ad hoc

Qualifications

• Experience in cat modelling, preferably in an Insurance environment.
• Knowledge of RMS detailed loss modelling platform.
• Competent in SQL and VBA with reporting experience.
• GIS knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong numerical data handling and analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Pre-modelling of underwriting submissions across lines as needed.
• Assist portfolio reporting and monthly risk modelling roll-up.
• Prepare regulatory returns and support ad hoc projects.
• Interpret data and model outputs to support underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with brokers and teammates to ensure data completeness.
