Job summary

Johnson Matthey Plc is seeking an SCAT Engineer II to design and execute advanced testing of catalytic materials. You will lead instrument design, data acquisition, and safety protocols while supporting CAPEX projects and cross‑team collaboration in a fast‑paced lab environment.

You will apply engineering fundamentals, catalysis knowledge, and statistical methods to optimize performance and ensure quality across testing platforms. This role is predominantly on‑site with standard full‑time hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience with instrumentation and catalysis to solve technical issues.
  • Experience with FTIR, mass flow controllers, and process monitoring.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW control software and I/O systems.
  • Experience designing and fabricating reactor systems for catalysis.
  • Ability to manage CAPEX projects and drive them to completion.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistics for quality in analytical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design new test methods, evaluate complex testing, and troubleshoot advanced analytical equipment.
  • Perform routine and non-routine testing to characterize catalytic materials.
  • Support Clean Air and Clean Air Solution teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Coach and support the SCAT team across multiple testing areas in the laboratory.
  • Lead instrument designs including data acquisition and control systems.
  • Install corrective engineering measures and full testing protocols for safety systems.
  • Lead all Job Safety Analysis activities for CAPEX projects and ensure completion to maintain budgets.
