Job summary

Cats Protection’s Centre in St Helens is seeking a Rehoming and Welfare Assistant to work 24 hours a week (Thu and Fri, with weekends on rota) helping care for cats and facilitating adoptions. You’ll clean pens, feed and monitor cats, assist with veterinary runs, and support volunteers.

You’ll also present a friendly image to customers and prepare rehoming information for viewings. A full, manual driving licence is essential; join a team that cares for thousands of cats each year and helps them

Qualifications

• A full, manual driving licence is essential.
• Excellent communicator with strong empathy.
• Excellent customer service skills and experience dealing with the public.
• Experience of animal welfare, including cat care and handling.
• Resilient with the ability to cope with distressing situations.
• Positive attitude and good at working as part of a team.
• Health and safety awareness and comfortable with manual handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning of cat pens and litter trays.
• Feed and care for cats requiring medical or behavioural treatment.
• Present a professional and friendly image to customers and visitors.
• Assist with veterinary runs and driving the Cats Protection vehicle off-site.
• Work with volunteers to coach and guide them on cat care duties.
• Support with scheduling and preparation of rehoming information, viewings and adoptions.
