Qualifications

• Current, in-date SIA Door Supervisor badge is mandatory.
• Aged over 18 and physically fit to stand for long periods.
• Good numeracy and literacy to write incident reports and update records.
• Excellent verbal communication and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide security support and supervise crowd control at De Montfort Hall
• Monitor customer conduct and deal with conflict as it arises
• Carry out baggage checks
• Provide access for customers who need additional assistance
• Spot potential issues early and keep customers and staff safe before, during and after shows
• Support security in the pit or at the front of the stage during performances
• Assist in removing disruptive customers during events
• Assist artistes during signings
• Manage crowds as performers leave the venue
• Coordinate with Front of House Supervisors
• Work as a steward during events when required

Job description

Casual security officer post at De Montfort Hall, a live entertainment venue run by Leicester City Council, with shifts offered as events are scheduled. The work centres on keeping customers, staff and performers safe through crowd control, conduct monitoring and baggage checks, working alongside Front of House Supervisors. The hall stages around 250 performances a year, and shifts run days and evenings across the week, with a possible stewarding element. Applicants need a current SIA Door Supervisor badge and must be over 18; starts are from December 2026.

What the job involves

• Provide security support and supervise crowd control at De Montfort Hall
• Monitor customer conduct and deal with conflict as it arises
• Carry out baggage checks
• Provide access for customers who need additional assistance
• Spot potential issues early and keep customers and staff safe before, during and after shows
• Provide security in the pit or at the front of the stage at rock concerts
• Remove customers causing problems at comedy shows
• Look after artistes during signings
• Control crowds as performers leave the venue
• Work with the Front of House Supervisors
• Work as a steward at certain events when required

Registration & licences
