Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an experienced PAT tester to join our York site on a casual, zero-hours basis. You will inspect, test and record portable electrical equipment across a busy site, ensuring safety and compliance with electrical standards.

This hands-on role offers flexible shifts with no guaranteed weekly hours and opportunities to contribute to health and safety on site while working with a supportive Sodexo team.

Qualifications

• Previous PAT testing experience in a commercial/operational environment.
• Current PAT testing qualification or certification.
• NVQ Level 2 in Electrical Discipline or equivalent.
• 18th Edition qualification is required.
• Electrical safety knowledge and safe testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Carry out visual inspections and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) using approved testing equipment.
• Follow the site PAT testing programme, prioritising equipment according to risk and dates.
• Accurately record appliance details, test results, defects and actions taken.
• Apply pass/fail labels and maintain asset information.
• Identify unsafe equipment and remove from service when required.
• Carry out minor repairs (e.g., plugs, fuses) where safe and authorised.
• Re-test after minor repairs and return to service.
• Escalate equipment needing specialist repair or further investigation.
• Ensure PAT testing equipment remains safe and calibrated.
• Work safely across operational, office, catering and support areas.
• Coordinate with colleagues to access equipment with minimal disruption.
• Maintain records and provide updates on testing status.
• Follow health & safety procedures and site requirements.
