Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking casual technicians to support live events across The Hexagon Theatre, South Street Arts Centre and Reading Concert Hall. You will assist with the preparation, operation and dismantling of productions, helping ensure performances run smoothly and safely.

This casual role offers evenings and bank holiday shifts on an as-needed basis. You will join a dedicated technical team, learn on the job, and gain experience in a busy venue environment while following health

Qualifications

• Interest in theatre, live events or entertainment industry.
• Hardworking, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
• Able to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Able to undertake manual handling duties, including lifting and carrying equipment.
• Comfortable working at heights (training and equipment provided).
• Excellent timekeeping and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading scenery, staging and technical equipment.
• Assisting with event set-ups and get-outs.
• Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of technical equipment.
• Helping to keep technical areas safe, tidy and secure.
• Following Health & Safety procedures at all times.
• Working alongside experienced technical staff and visiting production teams.
