Job summary

The Crematorium and Memorial Group is seeking compassionate individuals to join our casual team as Funeral Service Operatives in Stroud. You will support families during services and behind the scenes, working on a casual, on-call basis with training provided.

Role involves assisting at services, driving hearses, and upholding ceremonial standards with a professional, respectful attitude. Full UK driving licence is essential and flexibility with hours is required.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence required (Essential).
• No prior funeralcare experience required; full training provided.
• Physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and carrying.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible shifts, including short-notice availability.
• Comfortable with direct contact with the deceased.

Responsibilities

• Assist at funeral services, bearing coffins, setting up venues and supporting mourners.
• Drive and operate specialist vehicles such as hearses and limousines.
• Represent Dignity Funerals with professionalism and empathy.
• Provide respectful, discreet support to families on the day of the service.
• Maintain ceremonial standards in appearance, conduct and service delivery.

Salary: £13.40 per hour + on-call payments

We’re looking for compassionate individuals to join our team on a casual basis, supporting families during funeral services and behind the scenes. This flexible opportunity is ideal for those who want to make a difference in their community while working around other commitments.

The Role

You’ll be part of a team that ensures every service is delivered with dignity and respect. This position is well-suited to individuals who are looking to work occasionally and contribute in a meaningful way, especially during peak periods or when extra ceremonial support is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting at funeral services, bearing coffins, setting up venues, and supporting mourners.
• Driving and operating specialist vehicles such as hearses and limousines.
• Representing Dignity Funerals with professionalism and empathy.
• Providing respectful, discreet support to families on the day of the service.
• Maintaining ceremonial standards in appearance, conduct, and service delivery.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a Full UK Driving Licence (Essential).
• Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and professionalism.
• Understands the importance of presentation and discretion.
• Is physically capable of manual handling tasks, including lifting and carrying.
• Is reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours, including short-notice availability.
• Is comfortable with tasks that involve direct contact with the deceased.

No previous experience in funeral care is required; full training and uniform will be provided.
