Hereford Racecourse is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Casual Fence Attendants to join our team starting in October 2026. This casual role involves working approximately 2 hours per race meeting, helping maintain the racing fences and ensuring safety between races.

We offer flexible hours, full training, and the opportunity to work behind the scenes at major race days in a friendly team environment.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Team players with a practical, hands-on approach.
• No previous experience required – full training will be provided.

• Repair and replace birch in the racing fences between races.
• Check your allocated section of the course and report any issues.
• Work closely with the Racecourse team to ensure racing runs safely and efficiently.
• Follow all health and safety procedures.
• Assist with fence preparation before racing as required.

Job description

Hereford Racecourse is a popular racecourse for trainers starting their horse's careers and for prep races ahead of prestigious Festivals later in the season. The course is almost rectangular in shape measuring about 1m 3f around and is widely regarded as a fair, galloping track.

Many a horse has started off a glittering career, most recently Finian's Oscar made a stunning British debut at the track in December 2016.

We're looking for reliable and enthusiastic Casual Fence Attendants to join our team starting in October 2026.

This is a casual role, ideal for anyone looking to earn some extra income while being part of the excitement of race days. Working for approximately 2 hours per race meeting, you'll help maintain the racing fences, ensuring they are safe and ready between races.
