Job summary

The Gatwick School is seeking reliable and calm Exams Invigilators to join our team. You will oversee examinations, follow established procedures, and assist pupils with access arrangements, including scribing when needed.

Training will be provided and the role is casual, on an as-and-when basis. Location may be at The Gatwick School or a site nearby; pay is £16.20 per hour, including fringe allowance and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• Ability to use language and other communication skills that pupils can understand and relate to essential
• Ability to demonstrate active listening skills essential
• Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies essential
• Very good numeracy and literacy skills essential
• Keen eye for detail, with an ability to produce work of a high standard of quality and accuracy essential
• Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure, whilst working to deadlines essential
• Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the school team essential
• Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner essential
• Ability to create and maintain an appropriate environment which ensures the safety of all users of the school essential

Responsibilities

• Supervise examinations in a calm and organised manner
• Follow required procedures and support pupils with access arrangements
• Assist as a scribe when required, writing or typing dictated responses
• Provide training support as needed to new invigilators
• Work as part of a team to maintain a secure examination environment
