Job summary

University of Bath's ResLife and Campus Services Marketing and Communications team seeks a part-time social media assistant. You will plan, produce, schedule and publish engaging graphic, film and written content across multiple channels to showcase Belonging, Be Well and Leave No Trace themes.

Job description

The expectation of this post is around 10 hours per week, and can be flexible, depending on campaigns and time of year., To support the ResLife and Campus Services Marketing and Communications Managers with the implementation and delivery of the departmental social media strategy to the student and wider university community.

The role enables ResLife and Campus Services activity to be efficiently and consistently marketed to students, staff and external customers, across multiple social media channels. It also allows for the work, activities and key messages from the team to be consistently delivered and monitored.

The focus of the role is to help plan, produce, schedule and publish engaging graphic, film and written content for a range of social media channels. The primary focus of content for these roles is around the themes of Belonging, Be Well and Leave No Trace.

Main duties and responsibilities
  1. Updating social media accounts
  2. Researching relevant news, trends and stories to inspire content
  3. IT proficient, with a sound knowledge of MS office and understanding of relevant digital tools.
  4. Using Canva to create content
  5. Create, edit and publish engaging video content for channels such as Instagram, Facebook, internal videos, clips for digital screens etc.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  7. To assist with the development of other promotional activity to support recruitment, sales and communication (video production, photography, social media)
  8. Use relevant analytics to tailor future content and suggest improvements.
  9. Create a content calendar, create and follow post schedules on all social media platforms, ensuring content is engaging and relevant. Reviewing post engagement with a view to increase and improve. Adhering to budget limits.
  10. Work with other teams such as central marketing to deliver shared messages across university wide platforms.
  11. Work with ResLife Ambassadors to help create content such as Reels for Instagram
  12. Write and edit blog articles for Reslife.bath.ac.uk
Communication and Feedback
  1. Ensure that the ResLife / Campus Services tone of voice is maintained across all communication channels

You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager.

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification or experience.

Qualifications
  • Experience in using social media platforms
  • Experience of maintaining effective communications with customers and/or stakeholders
  • Experience using Adobe or similar software
  • A keen interest in Marketing and Communications
  • Awareness of policy issues and regulations within the University
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to build highly effective working relationships across the department and University
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to describe complex issues in a clear, concise, engaging and accurate manner
  • Highly effective computer literacy
  • Highly effective editing and proof-reading skills
  • Accuracy and immediacy, ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Commitment to and delivery of client service and to high-quality customer service
