Job summary

Dorchester Collection's CUT - 45 Park Lane Hotel in London is hiring a Casual Commis Chef. You’ll learn from our legends and our award‑winning academy to achieve the highest standards in craft, service and leadership.

Shifts are 6am–3pm, 7am–4pm, 2pm–11pm or 3pm–12am. You’ll assist the kitchen team, portion and prepare foods, help control costs and handle special requests. Apprenticeships range from Level 2 to Hospitality Degree Level 5 to support your career development.

Qualifications

• Baking & pastry techniques and fundamental techniques like creaming, folding, tempering chocolate.
• Knife skills: cut, shape and decorate pastries with accuracy.
• Ingredient knowledge: familiarity with flour types, dairy, and chocolate.
• Piping and decoration: basic proficiency with piping bags for frosting and decorations.
• Plating and presentation: visual appeal in plated desserts.
• Culinary training: degree or diploma in pastry arts is beneficial but not required.
• Work experience: internships or experience in bakery/hotel/restaurant pastry sections beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the kitchen team in their section to ensure high food production standards.
• Participate in daily food preparations; portion foods and help manage food costs.
• Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in handling special requests and challenges during shifts.
