Job summary

Dalston, Carlisle – Casual Cleaning Operative is being recruited by Sodexo. You will join a team delivering cleaning across designated areas, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety on site.

Candidates with cleaning experience or COSHH knowledge are welcome. Training is provided; the role is flexible with hours as required, including standing and light physical activity as part of daily duties. Enjoy Sodexo’s benefits package and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience would be beneficial, though training can be provided.
• Experience using commercial cleaning equipment would be advantageous.
• COSHH and Health & Safety knowledge would be beneficial.
• NVQ/BICSc cleaning qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
• Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Reliable and proactive approach to work.
• Ability to manage time and complete tasks to schedule.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Flexible approach and willingness to support different cleaning tasks.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach.
• Ability to undertake a physically active role including standing, walking, bending, reaching.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of cleaning duties across designated areas, ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Complete scheduled cleaning tasks efficiently and within agreed timescales.
• Clean and maintain communal areas, facilities and other allocated spaces to the required standard.
• Use the correct cleaning methods, colour-coded equipment and materials for each task.
• Safely use cleaning equipment, machinery and chemicals in accordance with training.
• Follow COSHH, Health & Safety and safe working procedures at all times.
• Wear the correct PPE and take appropriate precautions to help prevent cross-contamination.
• Use appropriate safety signage while cleaning, ensuring it is removed and stored safely when no longer required.
• Keep cleaning cupboards and storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
• Identify and report building defects, damaged equipment or other issues that could affect safety or service delivery.
• Complete any required cleaning records and documentation accurately.
• Work flexibly to respond to changing priorities and additional cleaning requirements.
• Work closely with colleagues to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for everyone on site.
