Responsibilities include:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including asking customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting. Always wait until someone relieves you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, ensuring items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
6. Follow all state, local, and federal laws regarding sales of beer, wine, WIC handling, coupons, and transactions involving debit/credit/gift cards and EBT.
7. Follow company procedures for check cashing, proper use of tills, and obtaining change.
8. Take weekly produce tests and record all not-on-file items daily.
9. Use the intercom properly and avoid conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
10. Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
11. Assist with light stocking duties and keep facilities such as bathrooms clean.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
