Job summary

NHS Highland is seeking a midwife to provide autonomous, cost-effective continuity of care for families in Oban, Lorn & Islands. The post involves travel to Argyll & Bute units and occasional homebirth coverage within the Health Care Partnership, with overnight on-call duties. A full UK driving licence and own car are essential; a pool car is provided for community visits.

The post is fixed term/secondment until June 2027, based in Oban with travel to cover service needs as required.

Qualifications

• Autonomy to work independently within a supportive team.
• Must travel between Oban, Lorn & Islands and Argyll & Bute units.
• Will cover overnight Out of Hours care on call.
• Driving licence and own car required; pool car provided for community visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity of care to families in Oban, Lorn & Islands.
• Be the named midwife to a caseload with full range of maternity care.
• Travel between maternity units within Argyll & Bute as needed.
• Cover homebirths within the Health Care Partnership (HSCP) as required.
