The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and customer focused individual to join a busy team as a Case Administrator. Dealing with both internal and external stakeholders you will use your first‑class interpersonal skills to provide a key and imperative service to victims of crime, witnesses, members of the Crown Prosecution Service, Magistrates and Crown Court representatives.

You will use your organisation skills to keep on top of a busy workload of preparing digital prosecution files for Court ensuring that you adhere to the strict timescales. You will be able to prioritise files according to Court date and ensure that cases are dealt with expeditiously where required. You will have a key eye for detail and will use this alongside your IT skills to update records, provide quality checks and input files on to the relevant IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be expected to deliver excellent Customer Service and will be responsible for providing timely updates following each court hearing.
  • As the first point of contact with victims & witnesses once a case has been charged, you will be responsible for providing information on the Criminal Justice Process in accordance with the Victims Code and Witness Charter.
  • Progressing digital prosecution files through the courts. Prioritising files according to Court date and ensuring cases are dealt with expeditiously where required.
  • Handle and prioritise internal and external correspondence and enquiries, researching who the correspondence relates to and forwarding for action.
  • Update IT systems ensuring records are up to date, to confirm accuracy and provide quality checks.
Skills & Experience
  • Joining our busy team, you'll require first class organisational, computer and problem‑solving skills.
  • Attention to detail is key and the ability to analyse information and re‑direct correspondence accordingly.
  • Previous experience of dealing with people in a customer focused environment or supportive network is essential.
  • The ability to continually prioritise your own work and work to strict timescales is imperative.
  • You will have daily contact with a wide variety of individuals and organisations such as victims of crime, witnesses, members of the Crown Prosecution Service, Magistrates and Crown Court representatives. It is therefore essential that your communication and interpersonal skills are first‑class.
  • You will be dealing with a large volume of files at any one time so an organised approach and ability to work under pressure is vital.
  • You must have the ability to integrate into an established team as well as work under your own initiative.

This role has the option for agile working. During the initial learning period of the role all mentoring will be completed at Brighton Police Station, John Street. Agile working will be considered after a minimum of 6 months from the start date, subject to sufficient knowledge of the role being demonstrated.
