Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Carpentry Technician to support practical carpentry teaching at our East London campus. The role combines industry knowledge with mentoring to help learners progress in carpentry skills.

You will assist lecturers, maintain workshops and ensure health and safety procedures are followed, while supporting students toward further study and apprenticeships. Permanent, full-time contract.

Qualifications

• Industry experience in carpentry.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and support learners.
• Good organisational and IT skills.
• Strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
• Teaching experience is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support lecturers with preparation and delivery of practical lessons.
• Assist learners across different levels to develop their carpentry skills.
• Maintain carpentry workshops, tools and equipment to a high standard.
• Support the safe and effective use of workshop facilities.
• Provide guidance and encouragement to learners during practical activities.
• Help ensure health and safety procedures are followed across the workshop.
• Support learners working towards further study, employment and apprenticeships.
