Job summary

Royal Engineers is recruiting for a Carpenter and Joiner training pathway. You will learn to plan carpentry from drawings, operate workshop machinery, prepare timber and assemble joints. The program includes first- and second-fix joinery, with progression to permanent trade roles within the Royal Engineers.

Start with Military training, travel and adventurous training, and a strong pay from the outset (£27,282 per year at start) with opportunities to grow through the program.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (A–D/9–3) plus one other subject.
• Age 16–36 at application; training pathways in Army construction trades.

Responsibilities

• Plan carpentry and joinery tasks from sketches and drawings.
• Learn and maintain workshop machinery and tools.
• Prepare timber for use and manufacture joints.
• Carry out general construction work including timber frames and finishes.
• Install partitions, floors and roofing; interpret scaffold terms.
