Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join the Estates team for a secure, long-term position in Southall. The role involves varied maintenance tasks, from carpentry repairs to basic multi-trade duties, with opportunities to develop additional skills.

Salary is £22.57 per hour, with Monday–Thursday 8:00–16:30 and Friday 8:00–16:00 shifts. The position offers on-site work, on-call opportunities, and training within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Trade carpentry experience and maintenance background.
• Ability to fault-find and solve problems quickly.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• DBS check is essential; driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs, installations and maintenance tasks.
• Repair and maintain building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
• Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Undertake basic multi-trade duties including painting and minor plumbing.
• Maintain records of work and materials; work to health and safety regs.
• Assist and escort contractors in secure areas and participate in on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs, installations and maintenance works.
• Repair and maintain building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
• Complete planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Undertake basic multi-trade duties including painting, decorating, glazing and minor plumbing works.
• Diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair solutions.
• Install specialist fixtures and safety-related building improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and material requirements.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations.
• Work closely with estates colleagues, contractors and site staff.
• Escort contractors within secure working areas when required.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
• Work at height and within confined areas where necessary.

What We're Looking For

• National Certificate (BTEC/ONC) or equal NVQ Level 2 with relevant post experience
• Previous experience within carpentry, maintenance or building services.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• A standard DBS is essential
• Flexible and reliable approach to work.
• Full UK Manual driving licence is essential
