Job summary

JLA Group is seeking a Carpenter to install fire doors and frames across customer premises, ensuring compliance with current fire regulations and certification labels. The role encompasses maintenance, service delivery monitoring, and teamwork to deliver high standards.

You will travel to sites, manage safety and quality, and contribute to ongoing service improvements while benefiting from JLA's extensive staff benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Familiar with BM Trada Q Mark Scheme.
• Install/maintain fire doors and frames.
• Proven track record in installing fire doors and/or maintenance.
• Some fire stopping experience would be beneficial.
• Level 2 Joinery qualification or equivalent.
• CSCS Card Joinery (Blue) required.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Install fire doors and frames at customer premises.
• Ensure compliance with current fire regulations and standards.
• Identify labels, CE marks and plugs to show certification.
• Perform fire door maintenance and remedial works.
• Monitor service delivery against SLAs and regulatory (BAFE/NSI) requirements.
• Lead and develop team to meet service targets and KPIs.
• Report risks and progress to line manager.

Role overview

To install fire doors and frames at a variety of customer premises. Ensuring current fire regulations are adhered to and quality of work is of a high standard.

Key tasks

• Installation of new BM Trada Q Mark Fire Doors and frames
• To be familiar with and understand the current Fire regulations to ensure the doors are fully compliant.
• To be able to identify labels, CE marks and Plugs to show that a door is certified.
• Fire Door Maintenance / Remedial Works
• Fire Stopping/Compartmentalisation.

Service Delivery

• Demonstrate an understanding of what service delivery excellence is for your role, ensuring you deliver the basics right every time and lead a team where service is central to good performance.
• To set clearly defined service level agreements for your team.
• Contribute to the service training across the business.
• Monitor and report on the KPIs on a daily basis to track progress and backlog for all customers, not exhaustive: Maintenance(PPM), Reactive, Small works
• Monitor and report job status to ensure all customers SLA and Regulatory (BAFE/NSI) requirements are met and exceeded.

People Management

• Set clear objectives for your team members providing regular feedback on performance.
• Manage performance across the team to ensure the achievement of service delivery targets in line with Service Level Agreements
• Manage any employee relations issues in line with the policies set out by the business
• Coach and develop the team to ensure they perform at a high level, ensuring colleagues maintain appropriate knowledge of the business products
• Address any training and development needs and ensure teams have a personal development plan.
• Maintain ongoing communication with employees regarding their wellbeing

Managing Risk

• Awareness of your operational and regulation risks which may impact on your operations.
• Responsibility for reporting to your line manager any risk which may impact the business.

Experience

• Proven track record in installing fire doors and/or fire door maintenance.

• Able to act in a professional manner.
• Good communication Skills.
